A number of familiar faces and names have Kern County connections.

This is the place from where better-known sports figures have emerged including NFL players, Olympic medalists and a family of motor sport champions. It’s where many film, television and theatre personalities have chosen to call home.

Kern County is also where a pair of famous country music artists pioneered the "Bakersfield Sound", and a popular alternative metal rock-band forged its roots during the post-grunge era.

World-renowned aerospace engineers, first-class test pilots have done, and continue to do, do their best work in East Kern. We've also produced a Supreme Court Justice and a life-long farm labor activist -- both recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
